L'Immagine Ritrovata, L'Image Retrouvée and Éclair Classics are attending the Lumière Film Festival and the Marché International du Film Classique in Lyon
L'Immagine Ritrovata, L’Image Retrouvée and Éclair Classics will be present at the Festival Lumière and at the Marché International du Film Classique 2022 (15-23 October 2022).

Focal Award 2022 for Best Archive Restoration & Preservation Project or Title
This year’s prestigious FOCAL Award for theBest Archive Restoration & Preservation Project or Title was assigned to the restored version of Celestial's Shaw Brothers Collection Project's King Boxer (Jeong Chang-hwa, 1972) carried out at L'Immagine Ritrovata of Bologna and Hong Kong. The restoration of this project took two years.
All the materials were digitized 2K and restored in 2K. Each film restored was sourced from the original camera negatives held at the Hong Kong Film Archive. The soundtracks were sourced from the original sound negatives; the vast majority of these titles included soundtracks recorded for Mandarin, Cantonese, and English.

Il Cinema Ritrovato
From June 25th to July 3rd, Cineteca di Bologna hosts the 36th edition of Il Cinema Ritrovato film festival, 9 days of screenings and meetings in seven theatres, as well as three open air evening screenings. A selection of the very best restorations realized over the year by public and private institutions will be presented both in 35mm and digital formats during the festival. Among these, several films recently restored at L’Immagine Ritrovata.

L'Immagine Ritrovata at the 75° Festival de Cannes
L’Immagine Ritrovata is delighted to participate to the 75th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, taking place from May 17th to 28th 2022, presenting six new restorations:
La Maman et la putain (The Mother and the Whore)
Jean Eustache
1972, 3h40, France
4K digital restoration of The Mother and the Whore was done in 2022 by Les Films du Losange, with backing from the CNC and participation from the Cinémathèque Suisse. Image restoration was done by Immagine Ritrovata Laboratories, supervised by Jacques Besse and Boris Eustache. Sound restoration was provided by Léon Rousseau of L.E. Diapason.

A presentation of Film Heritage Foundation, India. Restored by Film Heritage Foundation, The Film Foundation’s World Cinema Project, Cineteca di Bologna at Prasad Corporation Pvt. Ltd.’s Post – Studios, Chennai, and L’Immagine Ritrovata Laboratory, and in association with General Pictures, National Film Archive of India and the family of Aravindan Govindan. Funding provided by Prasad Corporation Pvt. Ltd. and Film Heritage Foundation.
The Trial

This restoration was produced in 2022 by STUDIO CANAL and the Cinémathèque Française. The image and sound restoration were done at the Immagine Ritrovata Laboratory (Paris-Bologne), using the original 35mm negative. This project was supervised by STUDIO CANAL, Sophie Boyer and Jean-Pierre Boiget. The restoration was funded thanks to the patronage of Chanel.
If I Were a Spy…

Presented by Pathé. 4k restoration, done scanning the original negative film. A project undertaken by the Immagine Ritrovata Laboratory (Paris-Bologne). Restoration funded by the Centre national du cinema et de l’image animée (CNC).
Itim
Mike De Leon
1976, 1h45, Philippines
A Mike De Leon presentation, distributed in France by Carlotta Films. Restoration done using the original 35mm negative and optical soundtrack, stored at the British Film Institute. The negative, scanned in 4K, benefited from a 2K digital restoration done at the Immagine Ritrovata Laboratory, Bologna. Color grading was supervised by the director, Mike De Leon, and his co-director of photography, Rody Laccap. This presentation is a preview of the French release of Mike De Leon’s entire restored body of work, slated 2022-2023.
